Talismoon Official Press Release:

Talismoon brings tilt sensitivity to Xbox 360â„¢ – introducing the Tiltboard!

8th June 2007 – At long last it’s time for Xbox 360™ owners to feel the benefits of tilt sensation, something of which PS3™ owners have been privileged to since its inception. Moreover, the Nintendo Wii™ is a prime example of just how instrumental interactive controllers can be in providing a highly enjoyable gaming experience.

Talismoon is delighted to the release the second generation of its tiltBoard controller, featuring a high quality design sporting powerful features which are easier to use than even PS3’s SIXAXIS™ controller.

Talismoon’s tiltBoard sports a unique u-shaped board that puts the two tiltBoard control buttons within easy reach of gamers fingers. This gives gamers the ability to make on the fly tilt adjustments in-game, as needed.

The Tiltboard comes pre-loaded with tiltTune â„¢ technology, which is the most user friendly firmware available for such a device. Gamers have the ability to perform the following functions, in game:

1. Adjust the tilt sensitivity: useful for getting accustomed to tilt control.
2. Adjust the 0 degree point: to allow holding the controller at the most comfortable angle
3. Invert the Y axis: to add realism to flying games
4. Turn the tilt function on and off

Everything required to enjoy the latest sensation in console gaming on Xbox 360â„¢ comes in a convenient package and requires only seven wires to solder.

tiltBoard To Be Mass Produced!

After much demand for my product and lots of commercial interest, I have negotiated a deal with specialist peripheral makers Talismoon. We are working together on a very cool product, which will bring tilt sensitivty for the Xbox 360 to the masses.  Unfortunately I can not say much more yet, but it will be worth the wait.

Stay tuned over the coming weeks!

User Submitted Mods

Jack from the forums has successfully installed the tiltBoard controller inside of the Xbox 360 tilt controller. I get asked a lot if this possible. I guess that answer is now yes, though I have not tested it myself. Check it out here.

While your at the forums, be sure to check out Jeff’s install where he installs a switch that allows him to switch the tiltBoard between the left stick, right stick, and off. Check that out here.

Tutorial: Add a tiltBoard to Xbox 360 Wireless Controller

The article below deals with the installation of the original tiltBoard and is left for historical reasons. You can download instructions for the new Talismoon tiltBoard 360 by clicking here (PDF).

In this tutorial I am going to take you through installing a tiltBoard into an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller. I am going to be hacking into the left analog stick. If you want to do the right analog stick, the wiring will be the same, but it will be on the right stick instead. I will also be installing a DPDT switch for switching the input into the controller between the tiltBoard and analog stick. Instructions are also provided for those who do not want to install a switch. I apologize for some of the blurry pictures. At the beginning of this tutorial I was using an old digital camera, and towards the middle I switched to my new Canon PowerShot SD600 6MP Digital Elph Camera, which has been working great! Click on any of the pictures throughout the tutorial for a larger version.

Xbox 360 Wireless Tilt Controller Mod

UPDATE – I am now selling the wireless controller on eBay.

I recently finished the Xbox 360 wireless tilt controller mod. This is the same as my Xbox 360 tilt controller, only it is done to the wireless version of the controller as opposed to the wired. I did the mod using a 3V tiltBoard (now available for pre-order). With this controller I added a switch that allows you to switch between using the tilt of the controller and the left analog stick for input. I demonstrate using the switch in the video when playing Full Auto (car racing game). I am using the analog stick at the beginning until I switch to the tiltBoard slightly into the race.

For those interested in getting a tiltBoard and doing this themselves, I will be making a video how-to of the entire process. Look for that in the near future.

For those worried about lag, this is the same code and processor as used in the wired one. It should have the exact same response it does. Check out its lag here.
